Solution to Share Rules & Etiquette

  1. NEED POSTS are limited to one post per fortnight per household.
  2. AGE - you will need to be 18 years of age or older in order to use Solution to Share. If you are not eighteen and have a need then maybe talk to a life group leader or contact admin direct on e: community@perthcic.com
  3. UNCLAIMED NEEDS - if a NEED remains unclaimed for more than two months it will be removed. You are welcome to post it again after it has been removed.
  4. SOLVED/RECEIVED NEEDS or SERVICES - Once someone meets your need it will be removed from the web page. If things don't work out, please feel free to re-enter your need.
  5. NEW MEMBERS - will initially be moderated - this is primarily done to weed out spammers from hitting our list and to ensure everyone understands the rules and protocols. Please be considerate of our moderators - they will attempt to deal with new posts as quickly as possible.
  6. TMI: Please avoid "TMI" ("Too Much Information") - sob stories and "needed desperately" posts are not necessary. Solution to Share is about helping each other anyway, you don't have to justify why you have a need. However you MUST fully disclose any intent to sell or redistribute an item at the time of posting or responding.
  7. PETS: Absolutely NO pet or animal posts may be made.
  8. NO TRADING PLEASE. Go to your local trading organization for this. It can be quite fun. With Solution to Share, though, there are no strings attached, just give it away now...
  9. NO MONEY, NO PERSONAL ATTACKS/RUDENESS. It's all about LOVE with no strings attached. Two strikes & you're out, i.e. you will be unsubscribed by the moderator after two inappropriate postings.
  10. RESPONSES GO ONLY TO PERSON WITH NEED OR SERVICE. This is a reply-to-sender list - it helps keeps down the sheer number of emails.
  11. PICK UP - Arrange as you like. Generally, you'll wait until you get a response and then you can arrange for a pick up and drop off, or a time to help the person within the area of the service you are providing. This can be done through email or by exchanging phone numbers.
  12. SAFETY. Be aware! When arranging for pickup of an item being given away, it is up to each individual member of Solution to Share to be appropriately aware of the potential risk of having "a stranger" coming to your home to pick something up. CIC as an organization assumes no responsibility for this risk. You may want to arrange to meet in a public place or leave the item on the front porch without mentioning whether or not you will be home at the time of pickup. We also ask that no personal details be included with original posts - this includes full name, address, phone numbers or possible times you won't be home.
  13. A BRIEF NOTE ON SOLUTION TO SHARE ETIQUETTE: "Be nice." We are all volunteers and we've got a great little community here so when you arrange to pick up an item from another CIC member, it is basic good manners to accommodate them as much as possible in terms of scheduling, and then be punctual; they are, after all, giving you something you need and asking nothing in return except that you will show up when you say you will. (Leaving someone hanging is never a nice thing.) Also, unless the giver tells you otherwise, assume that they would like you to come by as soon as you can to take away the item; no more than three days after the offer is made is usual. (Think of it as The Three-day Rule.)

That should just about do it. Have fun and thank you for being a part of the Solution to Share network.
